Hyena Two
Fibres: found mixed fabrics
59” x 75”
2009
Hyenas Two is a balance between affection and aggression. Bold text, bright colours and a fleeting sense of loss. The text is from W.H. Aulden’s poem September 1, 1939 - later borrow and altered by Lyndon Johnson in his 1964 U.S. presidents campaign. The text re-emerged as a point of discussion following 9/11. The three-layered quilt is pieced together, mixing traditional quilting methods with contemporary design and sometimes unexpected colours. All fabrics are found, borrowed, picked up off the street or taken off your back. |
